Omeo Ski Hire (Billie’s) has the Konig self tensioning chains that are just so easy to fit all makes and models of car and four wheel drive are the Traction Chain. All vehicles traveling towards Mt Hotham are required by law to carry snow chains and to fit them where directed during the snow season. All chains are all Diamond Pattern. Our staff is required to demonstrate the fitting of chains to your specific vehicle to ensure you can fit them yourself should this be required as well as make sure they do fit correctly. Chains will not be hired out without such a demonstration. For through-travelers, chains hired at Omeo Ski Hire may be returned in Harrietville at Hoys or Myrtleford at Ray's Ski Hire, and similarly chains may be picked up in Harrietville or Myrtleford and returned to Omeo Ski Hire in Omeo. Chains are specific to each tyre size, and you will need to be able to tell us the correct tyre size when hiring chains. Tyre sizes are usually found in a format such as 205/50R16 on the sidewall of each tyre. Problem tyres are the low profile they have no room between the tyre and the rim of the car and makes it impossible to work with, you need to be able to fit your hand between the rim and the tyre.
